After graduating from Austin High Gloria obtained her Nursing Diploma from Hotel Dieu School of Nursing, joined the Army as a nurse and went on to serve our country in Viet Nam. She returned home, got married and started a family. She has raised three children who now have given her seven wonderful grandchildren. While continuing her journey in nursing she received her Bachelors Degree in Nursing from UTEP and Masters Degree in Nursing from the University of Phoenix.
“Looking back at high school, and compared to some of my current friends and life-links, I remember my experiences there with nostalgia, wonderful fondness and a great deal of exuberance. I loved my time at Austin! I still remember the football and basketball games, extracurricular activities and the rivalry for "The Claw" with El Paso High. Also the consistent level of committed teachers who never gave up on us and always pushed us for more. We lived the pride of being Proud Panthers. Austin was IT for most of us, as I remember!”
“I have enjoyed opening my door to others who needed temporary housing/mothering
and have given of my time to causes such as the Baptist Clinic in South
El Paso, Medical Explorers and Medical Missions to Chihuahua with a physician’s
group.”
Gloria has been at Providence Memorial Hospital for 22 years, the past
16 years as Administrative Director for Perioperative Services. "I
love my job, the hospital, and the people with whom I work."
